Decked out in a fairly dull dark, with a slate-shaded control board and a flared shape that is littler on the work area than above it, the MFC-L2700DN's plan looks somewhat long in the tooth – yet it's exceptionally pragmatic. At the top is the A4 flatbed, with a 35-sheet ADF.

The control board runs the full width of the machine, with catches set either side of a two-line by 16-character LCD. They incorporate eight snappy dial catches for fax, a numeric cushion and catches for expert capacities, for example, ID card print and front-board control of duplex and print determination.
